After playing Q1 for years I finally got into mapping. These are all that ever made it to a "finished" state. For the most part, since the family Q1 server never became extememly populated, I was only coming up with maps for us to play on the 3 pc lan we had set up. The most played was KEWL56N all but DM22, 55, 88, and house3 were played regularly DM11 - my very first anything near playable map Very symetrical, two openly connected rooms. Rat maze feel in most parts. 4 stock spots, all weps and some armor all in one spot :) Quad damage inside a central collumn 2 central invisible tele's transport to opposing corners DM22 - Same thing, with new textures, and some structure tweaks still liked the first one better Fun design, but really needed the low ping to play these well DM33 - You spawn in 1 of 2 stockup rooms, each identical with teleporters leading to about 7 different spawn locations in the main room Main room is symetrical, hallways and ramps, centered around a bridge. known bug (HOURS TRYING TO FIX) is the corner of a walkway you fall thru it to the floor below you. But not on it's oposing twin side ?????? DM44 - One room Spawn in tubes where you fall thru every wep, and armor to enter main room stoked and ready to go! Raised corners, center of each wall is a tele, leads to opposite side. Neat to shoot yourself with a rocket! DM55 - Sprawling and unorganised. Experimentation really. but the tele's helped make for some interesting game play. movement between the 2 interconnected rooms can be surprisingle fast. Reminds me of a miniature golf course in places DM66 - Very good looking map, one long room. Interesting central bridge. Tight closed quarters map, drop tube spawns again. Based loosely on the supernailgun room on dm5 I loved that room, and wanted to recreate its gameplay only, it got a lil cramped :) DM666 - more experimentation, but the parts of this map that worked REALLY worked. Actually takes awhile to find all the nooks and crannys on this one. no drop tubes, I actually started spreading items around DM77 - Arena/stadium style. DM88 - Looked better in editor than it played :) HOUSE3 - Hadnt been to my folks house for awhile, so I did their kitchen/dining/livingroom the accuracy of some parts and angles was uncanny, considering it was all from memory. They had just redone the kitchen, they REALLY got a kick out of this DMx - Bigger map, 4 areas. I started in the big area and sprawled out a bit. Was very happy with how parts of this looked. Started to get the hang of some things. KEWL56N - Crowning achievment I actually hunkered down and applied all I had learned. Very professional looking and playing map. The 56 in the name is 56 structural saved. Spent 2 weeks tinkering with it, and nothing else The 'n' is a b c d e f... saves for lighting and items Every skybox can be RJ'ed into Smooth flowing between all areas Extensive underwater sections popping up in 2 main areas Lightning gun hidden in water was pure genius :) Balanced map, I played family and friends 1000's of times on here
